optimum JPEG file size

I am using some JPEG's in a project shot on DV. Some of the pics I have found on line are less than 720X480. Is this going to be a problem when I incorporate them into my project?... Also, should I de-interlace them?
Thanks

Well, yes, it could be a problem if you want the image to be "fullscreen". This means you'd have to scale it to match the frame, and you'd lose image quality pretty fast. Just try it and see if it looks OK to you or not. If not, I'd use a different picture.

As far as I know, jpg's are NOT interlaced, so there'd be no reason to have to de-interlace them.

Word.

If you choose to scale the images to fit your project settings, make sure you use whole numbers to accomplish it. For example if you have to scale it up 109.2% make it 110%

FCP has terrible scaling algorithms especially in DV
