Optimum aperture, sweet spots

I own a HVX200, the Letus Extreme and three Nikkor Primes.

What is the optimum aperture in-camera and within the lens to have a crisp and clean image? What are the sweet spots?

My lenses are 105mm 2.0, 50mm 1.4, 24mm 2.8

I've been testing and everything seems noisy to me - I guess I'm ruined by Blue Ray.

I couldn't find any satisfying answers in other posts so far. I think we need a sticky for that topic.

the best I hear is to never go higher than f4 on camera and same on the 35mm lens, plus we all know the problem with the extreme that anything higher then f4 or something like that creates haze and not goodlookin' bokeh someone please shine in on this

f/3.4 or 4.0 on the HVX is the sweet spot. I believe you will find a number of posts that support this if you look around.

For the Nikkor lenses, every one I have ever used performs best when stopped down at least once from wide open. I have not used a Letus Extreme, but I have read enough times that you can't stop down past f/4 to believe it. So I would say in optimal conditions, f/2.8 on your 105mm, f/2 or 2.8 on the 50mm (2.8 is my preference - I have that lens too), and f/4 on the 24mm (though it is usually not practical to do that indoors).

You're gonna need a lot of light to do that though, my friend. It's much more likely that you will be shooting at wide open on the Nikkors and 2.0 or 2.8 on the HVX.
