Optimizing the FX560 for video

Hi,

I just got the FX560 and I was wondering if there's any particular setting that would be better for premiere. When I access the graphic cards properties there's a huge list of applications you can chose from to set as default, but I don't see premiere there. I thought I would experience huge benefits with the FX560 but I really don't notice any difference from the Nvidia 6600 LE I was using before. I must be doing something wrong.

Also a weird thing is happening, I see way too much grain on ALL videos. The type of grain you get when you push the gama too high. I had this same problem with the other graphic card I had. Any suggestions?

I think the brightness display setting is off. An Nvidia card should allow you to fix that in Control Panel, Nvida Control Panel (or something similar). To use your graphic card to aid preview, in Premiere, go into Project Setting, Playback, and select GPU Accelerated effect.

Things are going from bad to worst. Now everything is pasty except the video. There's a color profile button where you can import a bunch of different color profiles...is there any particular one I should use that is more reliable?

Found out some info that might help. The gamma thing, it only happens to videos (no matter what format, or what media application I run them with). I tried viewing pictures and everything is just fine. But when I try to view any video at all it's like I boosted the gain/gamma way up. If anybody can give me any help on how to solve this I would really appreciate it. I bought this video card to solve this problem (among other things). BTW, my monitor is benq FP222Wa (http://www.benq.co.uk/products/LCD/?product=729). Please, I really need to fix this. I can't really color correct like this.

Go into Control Panel and select Nvidia Control Panel, then select Video and Television. Open a video file with whichever player you usually use. There is a bunch of image settings on the Nvidia panel like brightness, gamma, contrast, hue etc. Just adjust and apply until you get it the way you want.

Yes, I know that. The thing is that it's like there's something wrong with the bit rate. When I check out some footage where I rack focus with my A1 the different color and focus patterns look like they're 8 bit. I'm sure it's not the graphic card because I had the same problem with the other graphic card. I tried deleting the adobe gamma loader from the start up menu but this didn't do any thing. I just don't know what else to do. This sucks.

Ok, I'm getting really mad now. I'm already thinking about selling this junk fx560. I bought the FX560 over the Nvidia 6600 LE because I thought it would fix:
1- The grain/gamma things
2- It would boost performances on premiere and after effects

So far the grain/gamma issue persists, after effects doesn't accept my HDV files any more, and magic bullet doesn't work on premiere anymore (I lay an effect over the video file on the timeline and the image becomes black).

Does ANYONE have any useful info that may help me before I destroy this f*#% thing with a hammer?

It's not the cards fault...it's your fault!....hahaha :)
I would color balance with adobe gamma loader and set everything in your windows setting to default settings. just a start before you doing something bad. video cards usually just make things faster now that most are pretty good cards.

Hey,

Don't know if you still need help with this, i noticed that some of the posts are a bit old. I have a quadro FX 1300, I'm pretty sure that Nvidia use the same basic driver interface with all there cards. The way i set my card up is to go to the Nvidia Display options by right clicking the desktop and going to which monitor i want to correct. Once you have the Nvidia display box up you need to select the tools tab from the list on the left. Then click on the display optimisation wizard. if you follow the different options with this wizard and still don't get your display looking right you have a different issue rather than set up of your graphics card. It may be the settings on you monitor, i don't know anything about your particular model, but i would suggest re-setting it to the factory settings before running the nvidia wizard. I would also disable Adobe Gamma entirely as it has caused me issues when using too things to optimise my dispaly.

hope this helps.
