optics inside the SLR that flips the image

Anyone tried taking the duplicate piece of optics inside an SLR lens that flips the image to reflip it upright? I held two SLR lenses together and it seem to work but I'm sure that are many problems associated with it hence why all the major adapter makers went with prisms. Nevertheless, curiosity got the best of me. Can someone explain why this method isn't used? Thanks

I tried it. It is too small to use on the adapter itself, as the opening is the same size as the SLR eyepiece. I did plan on using it on the viewfinder to flip the image for viewing, but the MicroX was calling me, so I answered.

There is nothing commercially available in the prism department that will work. That's why our flip system is designed from the ground up with optics designed to compensate for chromatic aberration, spherical aberration, and ensure optimal contrast. It's a very expensive way to do things, but the results I think speak for themselves :-)
