Optical Flow/Slow mo - Can anyone help here please - frame's jumping

Hey there,

I've been reading the below might be a PAL issue w/optical flow so maybe that's an indicator...

I've got some footage I want to retime to slow mo in FCP X, it's my first project I've properly edited in FCP X so I'm kinda getting to grips with things.

The footage is of someone dancing, but I've selected mirror effect and a kaleidoscope effect as that's what's desired and I want the footage at 10% speed - basically it creates lots of lovely patterns

I used a demo of Twixtor and it does exactly what I want but I can't afford to buy that so it has the demo signs up.

I've been using retiming the clip and Optical Flow which does the same job basically and is therefore good enough and is what I'm happy with.

However, the footage seems to 'jump' every few seconds, jumping from one frame to another.

So what should be a smooth transition from the shapes it's creating are in fact jumping from one to another, as if it's missed out 10 frames or something.

Googling this seems like it might be a PAL issue - footage is from a BMPCC at 25 fps.

But does anyone know the solution to this? Is there one?

I read making the clip playback at 30fps might work but I can't see how to edit the frame rate in inspector. All other clips are 25p and are fine at that, it's just when I add the Kaleidoscope that it fails.

Have you rendered the output and switched to high quality playback?

Could be a computer lag issue that you are seeing??
