Optical Camoflauge - MGS STYLE

Cool concept, but its just a projection image. Neat idea, but not terribly innovative, you can't just have a transparent jacket, not without the projector following you around.

I'm not sure I know what you mean toilet_bob.

I've seen some more in depth stuff on this tech and it's pretty self sustaining. It's been incorporated into some prototype military suits and is fully self contained. Now, I don't know how well or how long this works for.

Im not sure what you meant either, but i think your not getting how the coat works. there is no projector.

actually some where on the net is video of where they used the stuff on a Bradely fighting vehicle or something like that. totally off the hook...

unless im mistaken...anyway, someone who knows more, care to elaborate on what toilet bob and i are missing out on?

You are spot on. Done with a projector.

What will be cool is when flexible lcd displays can be used for the camo. Cover a surface with the lcds and then display the image that is "behind" the surface, or actually on the other side of the object. Having the display be flexible isn't necessary though. It just helps to blend the image.

Here's a very simple example of this form of technology that you can do at home:

For a virtual camo tank, you would cover the tank with the displays. On each side would be a video camera. The video would be displayed on the other side of the tank. So, looking at the tank from one side would show the view on the other side as if you were seeing through the tank.

Cool.

actually I read that they were doing it by using fiber optics...but there are to many articles to google it like I just tried, I'll keep lookin' though to find the article I read. Still seems cool as hell could imagine Duck hunting with that stuff...no more time wasted setting up blinds!

Remember when they had that car in James Bond that could turn invisible?

That was sweet.
