Simply put, my career and passion is video/film. I went to college for it, and I left my good life I had in Cincinnati (including my beloved car), and moved to NYC, where I have been since October, and interning at Offhollywood for two months now, who are the RED specialists of the East Coast.
I've busted my ass for the past two months there, and I'm not certain if there's a job waiting for me at the end of it, but I'm doing everything I can, and all the while, I'm learning everything about the RED.
I'm unsure of where exactly I'll ultimately end up. But I can tell you this, my biggest passion outside of my career is cars. I lived at home through college and kept a full time job to both pay for my car, as well as my HVX setup that I have now. I tracked the car as much as I could afford, and now it sits in the garage at home while I'm here, busting my ass, paying a car payment, just hoping and hoping that I can begin some sort of steady income soon, so that I can afford to keep the car and bring it to NYC, because the money I saved is draining, and my student loans can only be deferred for one year. I do freelance work here, but between rent/health insurance/loans/food etc, my expenditures are just about more than I make in a month.
Unless you are a true automotive enthusiast, it's hard to explain the lifelong connection it becomes. My dream was to graduate, and spend a year tearing the car down, and building it back up, but my ambition to become a cinematographer has delayed that.
my background of shooting started in BMX, then once I got into school, I just fell in love with everything else... lighting, composition, just the stunning beauty behind every shot.
I also then started shooting car videos for various shops/events to have free work done to my car, and I realized how much I love shooting automotive stuff.... and I'd love to make a career out of it, but how? I've emailed most car magazines, SPEED has my resume, I freelance for ESPN.com (shooting bmx), but they have no connecttions to anything car related, so I'm at a loss of what to do.
I might never shoot cars as a career which is ok, because just shooting (more realistically AC'ing/tech'ing for a while) as a job is a dream come true. But I just figured I'd get on here and see if anyone knows anyone in the car world. Here's a few things I've shot recently..... they were both budget free, with just my HVX, and the adapter wasn't used for either.
