Opinions on Colortran 2k fresnel baby

I recently found a used Colortran 2k baby fresnel for around $300 and was wondering if that is a good deal, and how the quality of the colortran is. I have never used a Colortran light, I hear that are used more in Europe than the U.S. How do they compare to the Arri lights?
Any advice greatly appreciated, am needing a 2k soon!
 
Colortran is cool. It will do the job. It is worth the cash if it is good condition, hell if it works, for that matter. I have a colortran here at the office. I use my Moles more often, but that is just because I prefer them.
 
Can you use regular scrims on them? I think it is a 7". Also, do you think $300 is a good price?It is one of the newest models and in good condition. How much are the 2k moles going for?
 
We picked up a 1K colortran on Ebay a while back for some change...I think it was something ridiculous like $20.

It's a workhorse - the light itself doesn't look pretty but the light it throws is just fine.
Haven't had any problems.

A new 2K mole is a lot! I got mine from state auction for $60 bucks and that was a frickin' steel. I had a line in, so that is not a fair price to compare.
If it is in good condition, I say go for it.

I would hit up the Miami Film Connection website. Check out their used catalog and do your cross-examination.
