hi i am most comfortable with avid xpress pro, but will have to use FinalCut at work.

i came around this book on amazon:

Apple Pro Training Series. Final Cut Pro 4 for Avid Editors

Did anybody buy it and can tell me his opinion about it ? Will it be useful even, when we use FinalCut Pro HD 5 at work ?

thanks,
Marcus

It's an excelent book. Most of my students this past year are moving from Avid to FCP for one of two reasons. Graduating film school, used Avid, new job uses FCP. Returning to New Orleans after Katrina and production company they work for replaced all the Avid stations with FCP. They tell me they love the book, makes the transition super easy.

There is no Final Cut Pro HD 5. FCP-HD was version 4, version 5 is FCP-5. There are FCP editors who'll get you on this point. But do be sure you are up and running FCP 5.1.1. Although that book was written for version 4, most of it still applies to version 5 of FCP. Apple and Peachpit Press, as I understand it, have run out of the book, and are not shipping any new copies until it is updated for the latest versions of Avid and FCP. But it'll still help.

Here's another book the same author did on her own. She's a great author, also!
