Hi guys,
There will be a 7D job in the end of month.
The director suggested that use my H4N as the main recorder.
I am not really comfortable without a backing up system. because there are too many IN CASE in my career. Dont want to bring this job to another one of the in_cases job.
My H4N used to be backup system, then I will do breakaway cable into the camera.
But this time, 7D is a bit different. (No manual control )
So ... I offered JuicedLink DT454, of course it brings in more cost to the production. It would give me lots of confidence to the job.
HOWEVER, I went to my friend's production house to test the DT454, it doesn't seem to be in a really controlled box. I sent tone through a 442, adjusted the levels, recorded some TESTING TESTING voice into H4N.
When I went back home and listen to it, it sounds a bit distorted ....but in the FINAL CUT PRO, I checked the wave form it seems alright.
Then I read the DT454 manual, found out that I didn't calibrate the JL-DT454 before I tested.
There is a bit awkward to go back to my friend's company to test again....
SO... i just wanna ask you guys , if anyone used the JL-DT454, how's sound like after calibration of the box.
What do you think if you were I , would you bring it for a 7D shoot.
I have two options, use H4N as the primary audio recorder, than use JL-DT454 get the audio into 7D as the back up audio.... OR I prepare another H4N, so... I double system myself.
What do you think ?
Thank you in advance for your input
Hiro
