Who uses what?
As for me, I was using WIndows 7, but got fed up and switched to Ubuntu 10.10.

What did you get fed up with?
I use Win7 Pro 64, very happy with it.
OK, I think I'll re-phrase that. I was using 7, and then I tried Ubuntu. Once I had tried Ubuntu, the flaws in Windows 7 became much more apparent. For instance, a Windows machine is vulnerable to viruses 10 minutes after the first time it is turned on. An Ubuntu computer... well, they just don't seem to write viruses for Ubuntu! Also, it's much more customizable, most all the software is free (and yet good!) and hey, it has Kdenlive!

What do you edit video with? Is there a good image editor? DVD and Blu ray support for burning?
All I ask of my operating system and software is that it be invisible. They are tools, and I don't really care what goes on under the hood, only that they allow me to do what I need to do without getting in the way. I have no compelling reason to switch from OS X. In fact, if they never updated the software again I'd probably be content for quite a while. Same with my hardware. I only write and edit, though. If my processing needs were more stressful I might feel differently.
Like Google did with Android but for desktop computers? That would be great. I would hazard a guess that Google will come up with something along those lines. Have you heard about Android-enabled TVs?
