Hey,
what order do opening Credits for a film no, generally? I know that the directors name is usually the last credit to appear before the film begins, but what about everything else? and, if you credit someone in the opening credits, would you still credit them in the end credits?
enlighten me!
Thanks!

It's set up in the contract for each movie. The easiest way is probably just to watch any movie that uses opening credits.

From what I've seen, the movies that have key credits at the beginning do not credit the same people at the end, other than cast.

Unless you have specific contractual obligations as to how your people are credited, your options are really unlimited.

Frankly, I really despise the practice, on larger-budget projects, of putting the same name up multiple times in one credit roll, i.e. Paramount Pictures and Alan Smithee Present/An Alan Smithee Production/An Alan Smithee Film/Directed by Alan Smithee etc etc etc.

Sure, if one has the clout to insist upon one's name being flashed umpitty-ump times, in every concievable category that it might remotely qualify for flashing, one can *do* it...but really, why not just wear a t-shirt saying My Ego is so Craven and Weakish, that I'll Roll Up and Die if it Ain't Stroked Every Six Seconds...

Generally speaking, department heads/above-the-line staff (producers from Executive down to Associate, Screenwriter, Cinematographer, Costume Designer, Production Designer, Composer, Editor) and lead actors get head credits; everyone else gets tail credits. Although my preference has always been for a simple end roll only, with everyone's name and position alphabetized under the heading, A Film By.

for the main part, it is contractually based, but for low-budget flicks that are made for no cash, just follow the patterns of real movies...who's to tell?...also, something that might help...check out this link: http://www.whygotofilmschool.com there's a chapter in it that talks about where and how to place credits.
