Opening Clip From Timeline In Trimmer Window?

I was wondering... Is there a way to take a clip from the timeline and open it in the preview monitor so you can trim it and throw another completely separate independent instance of it in the timeline?

As of right now, when a clip is in the timeline, I have to right click, select REVEAL IN PROJECT MEDIA, then double click on the clip that's highlighted and then move over to the preview window to trim it.

Is there a way to just open that clip from the timeline in the preview window? Double clicking on the clip does this, but then when I change the in and out points, they also get changed in the timeline. Any way around that?

It's kinda inconvenient having to right click and select REVEAL IN PROJECT MEDIA, etc (the procedure I mentioned above).

Any easier workaround?

Hit "M" for Match Frame; it'll load the original source clip in the preview monitor. Setting new ins and outs will not affect the clip that is already in the timeline. You can then edit it into the timeline as an independent clip reference.

create a new timeline, called eg. Timeline 2,
drag and drop Timeline 1 to the source monitor, trim away, and drop it into timeline 2

That's exactly what I was looking for but for some reason I thought when you pressed M and changed the in and out points, it affected the instance/clip reference in the timeline. I'm not sure why I thought that....

Thanks!
