opacity level/track management

I have a track were I set the opacity level down a bit to be in the background of my text and the Sony checkers generated media.
The track is footage of a race car.

Now I want to use that same track for the rest of my race footage but can't because the opacity level slider is set for my previous footage. Is there a way to set the opacity level back to full on the rest of the clips in this track? Or do I just use another track for the normal clips?
The reason I'd like to do this is to cut down on track usage,If possible. Just the opening of the video has 5 tracks for one scene and makes for alot of scrolling as I add more.

Any ideas to better manage tracks? Maybe combine all the audio portions to one track? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: opacity level/track management

First, why do you care how many tracks you have? It doesn't put any less of a strain on the CPU if there is no media there.
Second, if you have a single title event that you wish to change the opacity of, simply use a compositing envelope. Think of it as a 'volume' envelope for visible media.
Right click the track header and choose Insert Compositing Envelope. A blue line appears at the top of the track. Double click to insert handles or envelope points. Drag down to desired transparency. Drag back up to desired opacity.

Thanks Spot. Thats exactly what I was looking for.

I'm just tring to have a less confusing time line to deal with. I thought cutting down the number of tracks would just be a little easier to handle, Being new to this whole thing.
Just wondering what others do to aviod a gizzilion tracks at the end of a project.
