Hi all,

i have a query, can the Sennheiser me4 lav which normally is connected to the wireless transmitter can it be connected directly to the digital field recorder like zoom or tascam?

i just want to plug the microphone into the zoom or tascam and record it into the digital recorder.

Is it possible?

regards,

> It depends.
All my lavs (for G2/3) (Countryman, OST, Tram) work with a portable recorder's 3.5mm mic input which provides 'Plug-in power'
Problem is, the stock Sennheiser POS molded-on plug's locking ring does not retract enough to be fully inserted into a conventional jack on some recorders. The TecNec, Switchcraft and most other 3.5mm third-party locking plug's do not have this problem..
FWIW, this plug configuration only feeds the recorder's left channel which should not be an issue since it's mono anyway.

Addendum: On my H2 an the ME2 mic works (as long as Plug-in power is turned on) and will feed both channels if the plug is futzed with.

As Rick says it can be done but the connection is not secure. I use several Sennheiser ME2's with Zoom H1's and I had made up some short adapter cables, about 15cm long with a male 3.5mm jack at one end (to go into the Zooms) and female Sennheiser type connector at the other end (to take the ME2's male jack).
