Only one Frame Size?

i have the xha1 and the letus extreme and they are working well except for this

i zoom in to where there are no black edges from the adapter (about F2.6 on the canon) and focus on the ground glass.

if i zoom in further for different framing within what i see, the camera can't focus on the ground glass, it isnt far enough away

so i seem to be stuck with only one frame and all i can do is move the camera back and forth to change the frame (or within a very very narrow range of zooming)

is this right?

Yes, that's because you're using a prime lens (only 1 focal length). Get an SLR zoom lens and you can zoom in and out like you're used to.

so am i correct in my understanding then that a zoom lens will allow different focal framing, but will focus it all at the same spot on the ground glass where my canon xha1 can clearly focus on it (that is, i wont zoom at all with the xha1, only with the lens on front of the adaptor) ?

Yeah once you've got the A1 focused on the GG in the adapter, then everything else will be done with the SLR lens.

awesome

there isn't a way to lock the zoom on the A1 once i've got it focused is there? i keep hitting it by accident and having to recalibrate... sucks...

pernell, there is a focus/zoom preset switch directly to the right of the ND filter switch. Once you set you focus/zoom you can hit "set" and if you happen to hit the zoom or focus at some point you can simply flip the "on" switch and it will return to your preset. make sure that you don't have it on set when you want to return to that position or it will reset the preset.

you could also physically tape down the zoom and focus ring so they cant move.
