ROFLMFAO.

I'm happy that I write after my influences, those of which are not people that go that far.

Thnaks, I never heard that quote.

PS - I don't have a problem with real sex in movies per se - I just haven't seen one yet where it was in a great movie. Maybe that's something to shoot for ? Macregor, calling Macgregor.

I got the quote from the DVD booklet that came with Criterion Collection DVD....
I kept wondering if that type of poetic dialogue would be acceptable in modern movies ?
Time to discover Argentinian director ELISEO SUBIELA's films then... Especially "Dark Side of the Heart".. .(His style is called magical realism)
ROFLMFAO.
What does it mean?

Are you tellin me you havent seen Caligula yet? :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) just kidding...
Here are the movies actors doin it for real regarded as high art movies:
-Anatomy of Hell by Catherine Breillat(her 2 movies are in Criterion Coll.)
-In the Realm of the Senses by Nagisa Oshima
-Pola X by Leos Carax
And finally as a prentious Porn infamous "Baise-Moi"...

I've seen some of those movies. I suppose it depends on how you would characterize the word/movie "great: :)

Perhaps, it's because that having real sex in movies is a new phenomenon (outside porn, which has been around since the Lumiere brothers did a three way). At least, IMHO, that movie hasn't been shot yet. Although, i'm sure there are others that would disagree...

Yup, I never called them great, did I?

It is, and quite meaninglesly... Real sex should stay within porn movie industry...
If showing real sex had a universal meaning in expressing art, somebody would have claimed to do the same with murdering for real on screen for the sake of art...(Sex-violence relation is obvious to all of us, i believe)
(outside porn, which has been around since the Lumiere brothers did a three way).
Lol, what do you mean??

Art is lost.

It's stuff like this that is sucking the life out of me regarding film production (pun intended)...

I'm sure there are people who thought "piss christ" and the poopy Mary were arguably good art also... and yes it got a big reaction... and I talked about it... but I'll never say that guy is a good artist.

I don't have a problem with movies that I can't finish because there's just so many that I can't start...

The oldest trick in the indi-filmmakers book is to mask your total lack of originality or talent with something shocking...

...one step above that is fear and sadness.

Art is lost.
Art imitates life. Modernity, or our civilazation we created must be out of control, hence the art...
Art that is bound to stay is usually mysterious, symbolic, humble, simple yet complex enough to stir feelings, without relying on provocation...
