Online help site: visual vs audio?

Hi guys. I wanted to reach out to get some thoughts from you.

I counsel and help people out in the field with a wide array of problems. I do it all for free (actually it costs me a lot) and I have pushed my human limits since media production is also a full time job and there are only 168 hours in a week. Since each person can take an incredible amount of time and love and I am only one person, I decided some time ago that an online 'help site" would be more effective.

For instance, I meet someone who is having a certain problem and rather than spend several hours/days/weeks personally with them I kindly direct them to my site which has a recording(s) dealing exactly with their need. Plus searchers online could potentially find the online help so I could help a lot more people through the site than I could ever do personally in my entire life. I don't plan on cutting out all personal help with individuals and small groups, but rather help reduce my load and increase efficiency and effectiveness.

My plan was to record the material as videos which also utulize effective visual aids such as bullet points, text, graphics, animations, footage etc to assist in the delivery, comprehension and retention of the material. However, this dramatically increases the time necessary to produce each topic, which in turn compromises my video business.
So I thought of just recording audio for most of the topics which is far cheaper and faster as well as easier. I could just read the material and be done!

But...
I do not think the audio-only will deliver near the immediate or lasting impact. It seems (to me) that people learn visually better.
I have been told I have a good recording voice but I do not think so. I may not be able to deliver an effective enough audio-only message. I do think I have a more effective video "presence" though. But video requires much more production prep as well as post work.

It looks like I am going to have to do this on my own so getting a better "voice" doesn't appear to be an option. I cannot afford to hire this done. To date, I have over 130 help lessons.

So now that I've tried to explain this situation, do you feel that video is far better than just audio for this? Even if I can produce good audio recordings, does video trounce it? This is a lot of work and I just want to help people the best way I can. I encounter dozens of people each week searching for answers and heavy laden with problems.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

A well-produced video with good audio will have a greater impact than audio alone. However, if your audience is more likely to listen to a podcast while jogging or driving or doing something that precludes watching; then audio alone will be better. But, as you pointed out, producing this video will take some time and effort. Only you can determine if it is worth doing.
