dont know if this is the right part of the board but the right people hang out here.

Im trying to replace product A with product B to do a clean transition between two product shots.

Is there a way to onion skin a previous shot with my current framing?

I have..
Dp502
Atmos Shogun Flame
FS7
Laptop
Davinci Resolve

at my fingertips

Are you talking about an overlay in the monitor to match framing, composition, etc? Their website says the 502 has an image capture feature. If it works like the DP7Pro, you do a "screen grab" of the image coming into the monitor and it records it to the SD card in the monitor and then recall it and, I believe, even set the level of transparency of the overlay. So just playback the shot that you need to match to, into the monitor and do the image capture, then when you shoot the new item you need to match, just recall the grab and the monitor will overlay it over the live image coming in.

Yep I think that is what Im saying and that is how I need to do it - thank you :)

Id prefer to use my atomos (or laptop) because they are bggere but the 502 will be a good start if I can make it work.

The 502 has loop through, if you want to use a bigger screen.

And you could also frame the shot slightly loose, to give room to nudge it perfectly into place in post.

I ended up with a metal rule taped to an old DP1 - will experiment further.

Not so simple as this is a digital slider shot (pan and slide) and the parralax and axis change a bit - I dont think a small reframe would account for that :)

The cheap solution is to use a dry erase marker on the monitor. Robert Rodriguez did this on Once Upon A Time in Mexico to line up a dummy with the real person
