One track?

Hey I'm new with my gear. Using a Rode NTG-2 and a DVX100a. Can only get one channel onto tape. Is that just the way it is? Do I need to make a stereo pair in FCP or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks, B

You're not doing anything wrong. The camera has a channel 1 and a channel 2, not left & right channels.

Almost nothing, film-wise, is recorded in "stereo" in the real world.

But if you really want to use both channels with one mic, put it in ch2 & set the source to ch2 for both 1 & 2.

Just for audio safety purposes, I'd knock down the signal on channel 2 by 10-15db just in case you get overload on channel one. That way you have a back up of your audio. I've seen that save people from having to loop on stuff I've worked on.
