hey friends thought I'd pass this along, it's a short documentary I saw earlier this morning about track cycling. great visuals, editing is fantastic, and if you're a triathlon/cycling geek like me the subject matter is pretty awesome too.

happy friday!

Very cool! And lots of respect (I say as I'm 2.5 months past a clavicle broken mt biking- screws and titanium plate...)

I wonder why it's SD?

Now about that interview hallway...

Nice. Part of that was shot at Alpenrose Velodrome, near my home. I actually shot a spec commercial spot out there this winter. If I can ever get it to my liking I might share it here with DVX friends.

groveChuck, clavicles are the worst - I've got some permanent damage to mine after a wreck last October. amazing how you can land entirely on your collarbone during every cycle crash. best of luck in the healing process (I've found whiskey helps) :)

as for the hallway, I'd venture to guess they did it to give the viewer that sense of unease and claustrophobia that racers feel when they are stuck in a narrow position barreling around corners with no room on either side. or it could have been a lazy producer haha

snowleopard - post it!

adam, we should start a clavicle club- there's at least one other user who's a member (I was so bored I posted my x-rays...)

Good theory on the hallway/claustrophobia, makes sense.

There's a velodrome here I wanted to shoot, but maybe not after seeing this video.

Oh, and I went with rum...

Ask and ye shall receive. Didn't turn out entirely like I had hoped, but it was in the dead of winter, battling flat lighting, and a track seeping water in one turn. Not fun. I ended up composting about half the shots and should post a before/after online showing that. But for now, here it is. Basically a spec commercial spot, just to see if I could get something different done with myself at the helm as writer/dir/producer. Fun. The guy on the bike is Kirk Whiteman, former world champion who now coaches and runs a studio in town (and still races some too!). Great guy.

Glad you liked it. Like I said, it didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted. But I'm no expert, and was facing rather challenging conditions. So I'm okay with it.

I have a couple more bicycling themed spots planned for the future, and if I can get the time to do them, and they turn out the way I like, I'll share. Cycling really is a wonderful sport.
