One thing I hate about indy film culture . . .

Yeah... they're obviously trying to create a bit of controvery. It IS a shame that it'll probably work.

The movie itself probably blows (no pun).

I doubt that will be called brilliant or get any major street "cred." If anything I think that title hurts the films chances. I already don't want to see it because of the title. It's schlocky.

But...a title like that does generate discussion so...

Not talking about salability. Talking about the "buzz" in the crowd. There will be a not insubstantial number who will want it to be brilliant because it's not afraid to go there.

Snakes on a Plane

Well, I enjoyed it...

Well the thing I don't like about it is, I KNOW I won't get nearly as much ****ing as I'd expect from a movie with that title. I mean "Gang-Bang-Angels" DELIVERS. But this, I seriously doubt it.

Lowish budget Canadian movie, with a mostly homegrown cast... Will get some coverage at home here in Canada, and play on maybe 10 screens in the US. Then will make it's money back in Canadian DVD sales and Movie network license fees. Won't be seen with that title in any American video rental place--> Like the censors at Blockbuster or WallMart would let that slip through.

A movie I worked on had a pot leaf on the poster, OK in Canada but the MPAA had them take it off for release in the states. Then said that the 'new' poster wasn't good enough because it was just the old one with the leaf removed, they wanted a whole new design. As if there was some residue left.

But I digress from the original intent of this post.

MY pet peeve -- the "blanking someone" titles. they really get under my skin for no good reason -- chasing amy, saving silverman, boxing helena, eating raoul, killing zoe. really irritates me and i don't know why.

Yeah...I also am getting tired of the "blank, blank & blank" titles, like Sex, Lies & Videotape...Gas, Food & Lodging...Blood, Guts, Bullets & Octane...

On IMDB it says the movie is in post. Maybe it just hasn't been updated in a while.

the worst is American "blah blah blah". American Splendor. American Psycho. American Beauty. I hate hearing the word American taken for granted. It should stand for liberty and honor, not some excuse for a title. Now a good title is Jurassic Park. Or Broken Arrow. Or Terminator. They get to the point and deliver the goods with out misleading. But alas, all the good titles are taken, and all the good movies have already been made...(except in Korea)

you mean you're wondering how an indie film got an IMDB listing if the film isn't finished yet? like everything else, it's who you know... I have two listings for films that aren't finished yet: one in post, another in prepro... white knuckles and heart of now. I "called in a favor".
