One of the Best Commercials I have Seen (lighting is a big reason why)...

Love the Extended Mix way more... All that was missing for me are some close-in ultra-wide-angle POV shots from either in front or behind each of the athletes as they are doing their thing.

I guarantee you every talent move and lighting cue in that spot was pre-planned.

And shot over and over again. I wouldn't even venture to guess the total amount of raw footage they shot to make that commercial, but I would be it is hours and hours and hours of takes. Nike doesn't half ass its marketing, that if for sure. That is an outstanding commercial.

EDIT: And if you ever wondered what kind of commercial director makes $2000.00/day or more!... Well, there is your answer.

Wow, amazing.

The lighting really stands out when you make it one of the co-stars. They don't hide the lights, but in fact bring it to the forefront, showing us the lights, adding powerful colours, and highlighting them with smoke. Very powerful. Very inspiring.

I Like it Looks Nice..... But Would have really cool to see some D.O.F. shots in there

I agree with others. How would that have helped? In fact shallow dof tends to be so over-used by indy filmmakers that it would have made this nike commercial look amateurish. There's something to be said for beautiful wide shots with deep dof.

Yes, but will it make you purchase a pair of Nike shoes?

It's not always about getting you out there to want to buy shoes. Nowadays, big corporate companies have too much competition, and nothing that makes them 'beter' than another brand. The only thing they can do is keep up with the technology, and sell a brand, an image. They want a certain feeling and emotion attached to their product, so that when people have this choice, they go with the brand they want. I think nike did that very well with this commercial.
