One More Question- Capturing into External Harddrive Or Laptop?

so i have vegas 7 now and have loaded it onto my laptop's harddrive. I will be using my western digital external harddrive to store all captured clips. my question is this, when I prepare to capture video, should I connect the camera to the EXTERNAL harddrive's firewire port or my LAPTOP's firewire port, the destination will obviosuly be the WD harddrive either way, I just wonder if it might simply be better to connect dirctly to the external hd. will it be better to connect to my laptop and then choose the WD hd as the destination? thanks for any input.

I've heard of problems with capturing from cameras to external hard disks (connected via the computer) due to this requiring both firewire/USB ports to work hard simultaneously - but maybe that just depends on how fast your computer is. Has anyone had experience with this? Keeping all data on an external disk does sound a nice alernative to cluttering up my laptop's disks...

I have captured to a 5400 rpm external drive connected to my laptop with no problems at all. Hope this helps.
