One man doc's

AshG,
I have to say I really enjoyed your doco. I went to your sight on a whim and watched the promo then went to intunes and downloaded the whole run. Really ****ing good man. If you had of mentioned the bands name to me this morning, you would have been verbally abused, but your doco really turned that around. Excellent unobtrusive style. I didnt feel manipulated once even though my opinions changed by the end. Excellent "Train" of thought with it. I felt like I was on the journey as well. It also felt like a fair representation of the subjects. I really got a feel for the personalities. Im curious, how long has the project taken you from beginning to end and were there many uncomfortable moments?

As for the fish market. (if it is still applicable) You could go one morning, see what is happening, who are the interesting characters. If you find someone, ask if you can hook them up to a radio mic the following morning, before trading starts...hope that this helps

Great thread would like to 'revive' it does anyone has ideas of other SOLO documentaries not said in this thread, maybe since 2007 (last post on this thread) there have been some new solo documentary?

hi, i read this tread and wanna show you my first teaser of a documentary i did compleatly alone... camera (C300),sound, directing and the editing... its a 40 min. documentary about a extrem domina from berlin... the concept was to follow her one day with the camera, to show the everydays life of her, but also to show the person behind.

I shot "Man of Steel" with just me, myself and I.
This is the pilot of a series of micro documentaries called 10DOC - 10 films, 10 minutes each.

I'm shooting one at the moment. It is all shot by me, interviews conducted, filmed and sound recorded by me too. It is also the first doc I have made after coming from being a photographer. To say it has been difficult would be the biggest understatement in the world. I have also made so serious mistakes (forgetting to record the XLR and instead recording the on board mics on one of my main interviews) luckily the ones I have messed up a little where all translated so I'm thinking I will record voice over English translations for them. However I have learnt so much in such a short space of time and had an absolute great time. As said before in this thread the hardest part is recording audio when shooting by your self.
