One lucky squirrel, a close call with a Lamborghini

I love squirrels but that looks fake. I watch squirrels all of the time and for one this one runs way too fast and doesn't waver after the car passes. I call 'fake'. Nice thought though.

//edit: It's certainly not a Canadian squirrel but perhaps a different breed from another country behaves differently. Maybe it's legit. ???

I don't believe it is real, but if you look at the full motion shot, you see something come out from underneath the car that looks like the critter's tail. The squirrel definitely has a shorter tail after the car passes. If it is a fake, then they are really good.

The behavior looks off to me. Running too fast and not responsive. It may be legit but like I say, it's not the behaviour of the squirrels I've seen. They look and dodge and basically run scared across a road. But different countries and breeds, who knows.

edit: And just to be a geek here, squirrels in my area run more like rabbits in that they hop when they run. I didn't really see any hopping here. It's looks more like a marmot than a squirrel. Perhaps the author got the animal wrong.

Yeah, I have watched it a few times full screen and I just don't know... Maybe. If it is real... that is one lucky squirrel!

Not fake. I was doing photos at the time so had 2 cameras set up on tripods to get the cars passing. Surprised me when I was reviewing the footage. Does look like it lost a part of it's tail, you can hear a pop when it gets hit :( I am going to talk to the owner next time I see him and ask if he even saw it.

daaaamn, its tail gets cut off and you can see it flutter back down to the bottom left part of the screen at around 6 seconds

but I don't think I see the cut off tail in the slowed down part of the video?!?

still, that's crazy how its tail got cut off like that

Yeah, you can definitely see its tail getting chopped off and flying off after the car. Poor thing.

Oh, cool. Thanks for clearing that up. Well, not so cool for the squirrel ;) What a shot though.

That sound of the tail being clipped is kind of strange, and was on my, "This has gotta be fake" side of the ledger. It is strange that with a car like that passing at full throttle that you would hear anything else but roar of the engine exhaust. Do you know if the audio was messed with when the clip posted?

Isn't that interesting. I relistened to it and I agree. The pop seems way over the top. But again it's maybe an audio thing. Interesting point though. I can't help but feel like a conspirsist(SP?) now. Haha. And it still looks like are marmot. But if the author sais it's legit then I'm willing to go for that for the benefit of the doubt. Mmmmmm.....:)
