Hello folks,

I bought this DVD today, and in the back of the film it says that it has 2 short films by Robert Rodriguez. I am going nuts with this because I can't find them. Does anyone who bought this DVD know where the short films are?

Please tell me I am not crazy, I can't really find the movies.

Help me out here.

Thanks in advance

Fidel.

Re: once upon a time in mexico

I don't remember there ever being 2 short films. I remember there was some Film School thing that expalined the making of the movie but thats about it.

The Ten-Minute Cooking School is awesome. I make that dish all the time. Which is why, if you look to the left right now you can see that....

Re: once upon a time in mexico

Yes,

Mine says all of that plus 2 Short Films by Robert Rodriguez. Oh, there is also the trailers. The only thing missing are the two short films they mention.

Here is a link to the DVD: http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=146392

You will see that they also mention the 2 Short Films by Robert Rodriguez.

Why do they mention the short films, if it isn't there?

Thanks guys

All the best

Fidel.

Re: once upon a time in mexico

Okay, that is region 2, dvd from Europe. In Canada & The US verison it has all those features except it doesn't say anything about those 2 short films.

I don't know maybe there are eggs on the dvd that lead to those 2 short films. Or maybe it was a mistake they made putting that on.

Re: once upon a time in mexico

Yeah, that is what I was discussing with my friend. It was probably a mistake.

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

Fidel.

Re: once upon a time in mexico

I'm guessing it was a mistake as well. That's still a jam-packed DVD though. Great special features.

Re: once upon a time in mexico

Man the one thing I'll always remember about this DVD's extra features:

At the very end of one of the Doc's, Rodriguez is running full speed and his steadicam is off balance and it slams right into a wall and cracks the glass...man...The movie was bloody but I cringed when that happened!

Yes man, I noticed that too.

Did you guys see his home studio? Man, is that a studio or what?

All the best

:PRe: once upon a time in mexico

I think those films may be on the El Mariachi 2 movie disk. I know I've seen them somewhere. Honestly, they weren't very good. I don't know how he went from those to the great Mexico movies. Yes, his studio rocks. Yes, I'm jealous :P

Re: once upon a time in mexico

I've seen Bed Head, which is on the Mariachi/Desperado DVD.
Now, I don't know what's the other one called.
His studio really rocks, but once upon a time in mexico was crap.

I didn't like the movie. The story wasn't that great, but hey, since I have the other two, why not have the whole trilogy, right?

Anyway, all the best

You make me sad. :'(

But hey, that studio. Isn't that like every indie filmmaker's dream? That's gonna be me when I grow up.

Re: once upon a time in mexico

Edit: That didn't come out right...

I liked this movie, I thought it was a fun movie...wasn't the best movie I've seen, but it sure beat a lot of others!

And...Johnny Depp's the man...come on...

Re: once upon a time in mexico

I quite liked Johny Depp's character, but the whole thing was just silly. It looked like a circus movie. Everyone flying around, the people fighting for the president. He had a great cast, but didn't know how to use them.

I remember a when he was shooting the film, he mentioned that this film was going to give him an oscar nomination. Well, dreams can makes us happy, can't they?
Well, I am happy enough for dreaming with a studio like the one he has. :D

I quite liked the extras the cames in the DVD. Really cool.

All the best

Fidel.

Re: once upon a time in mexico

This was his 3rd film in this style, He mentioned to Tarantino about how he wanted to end his Sergio Leone saga...

I mean besides El Mariachi and Desperado...What more can you do with a "guitarist gone gunfighter" story line...wait...don't answer that... :)

Re: once upon a time in mexico

Rodriguez did this movie mainly because the studios were putting pressure on him to do something new, and he figured he could wrap up the Mariachi series, so he cranked out this script in about a weekend.

It was at Tarantino's instigation that he made it, in Tarantino's words, "epic, and you've got to call it 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico."

I think one thing that keeps many people from enjoying all of the Mariachi movies, but especially this one, is that the humor is just really, really subtle. It didn't help that the first one was a foreign language film, which meant it got taken really seriously. I think that carried over into the subsequent two films as well.

But what can I say? I'm biased. Robert Rodriguez is like my film guru.
