For use as an onboard monitor is there a better solution than the Marshal 7" - V-R70P-SD? Can anyone who uses this monitor say whether it's LSI scaling system gives an image with enough resolution for confident focusing on the HVX. I am clear on the fact that it's resolution is not true HD, but I would like to know how good the Marshall's image processing is.
I realize it can't come close to the Panasonic 17" HD monitor, but for use in the field, away from AC power - on a tripod, a dolly or when mounted to a jib - would it give you an image with enough image detail to tell you with confidence that you'd hit focus? Does it justify spending the approx. $1,400 for the Marshal V-R70P or would one of the sub $1,000 SD monitors from Neb-tek, Varizoom or the others give you similar confidence on focus? Are there any other 5" to 7", under 2 pound focus assist monitors that would be a better choice? I'm not looking for a bargain, but I'm thinking there must be a good solution to the onboard focusing monitor for something under $2,000.
I'm still shooting with my DVX100A while I wait for an HVX200, so initially I'll be using whatever I purchase with the DVX's SD output. But when my HVX arrives, I want to have already settled the onboard monitor question so I can get to work with the HVX camera and not have any issues with focusing. My eyes aren't what they used to be on the close stuff, and I'll need all the help I can get.
If anyone has experience with the Marshall or other monitor on an HVX, I appreciate your input.
