"On The Lot" tonight

Personally I think there's way too many crappy After Effects cut-away heavy car crashes. Not that I don't LOoooove those types of effects, but they're a taaaddddd bit overused.

haha is anyone watching the 1 minute shorts, they have all been extremely awful and not funny but i loved jasons get a room. the judges didnt understand it but they are retarded, i hope this country guy wins

And I can't believe the judges didn't say anything to the effect that if they had thrown the Cuppa Pee out the window and it landed ON the jogger it would have been much funnier. If you're gonna go with a pee joke take the pee joke all the way.

P.S. I really hope Zach Lipovsky DOES NOT win. Do not ask me why, because I do not know.

Well, I missed the episode but watched the shorts on the website. I've got to say that the only one that wowed me was Zach's. They did a great job. And I also thought it was the only story that worked as far as pacing and everything else for the 2:30 time limit.

Now, other than TIME OUT, I didn't see anything that impressive. I mean, it's impressive just to get it done in 24 hours, but I'm holding these guys to a pretty high standard. I didn't see anything better than what you'd see at most speed filmmaking contests.

Well there's one tonight and it just seems like he's the only one using special effects and gimmicks and it seems like no contest. He's the obvious favorite, maybe that's why.

The Big Bad Heist was my vote. He was very smart. He played his trailer for all of America. He'll probably get a deal if the wins or not.

Some of them were great tonight...others not so great...some awful IMO.

My picks in order of best to worst:

1) Spaced Out by Andrew Hunt - His was awesome, had a real Pro feel to it almost like it would be a fav. superbowl commercial for Bud or something. Even if he doesn't win this thing he seems like he knows what people want to see...which makes him a good catch for somebody...even if its not in films he looks like he could do commercials no problem. I give that one A+.

2) Dance Man by Adam Stein - Great idea! I thought the creative idea alone was actually better than anyones really.

3) Replication Theory by Sam Friedlander - Funny idea that most can relate to, and he pulled it off while using lots of different gimmicks instead of just a few locations. Probably production wise it was the most diverse and had a good variety.

4) Lucky Penny by Will Bigham - Good stuff...seemed like some shots lasted too long to me but the idea was good. I almost cringed at that CGI shot of the penny, it looked so fake lol.

5) Soft by Mateen Kemet - Beginning was weak but the punchline at the end made up for it. Not alot of laughs at all, just one big one...and thats not a bad thing.

6) Danger Zone by Zach Lipovsky - Great use of FX while keeping the comedy there...very slapstick and he pulled it off well.

7) A Golf Story by Trevor James - Kinda disappointed here, I know he can do better than this. It wasn't bad at all but didn't seem to have that much going on. It was like soft, one laugh really and it wasn't as big as I thought it could have been. Not great but not terrible either...it did well.

8) Deliver Me by Carolina Zorilla De San Martin - Good idea and it worked but it seemed a bit boring to me like she took it too far in spots but not far enough in others. Btw....asian wemon all of a sudden what did that have to do with the lady giving her a shot...I know she was asian but it just seemed more weird than funny to me. Not bad though, and it looked great. The Green gave it a freaky feel to it.

9) The Big Bad Heist by Marty Martin - He didn't seem to have things funny in there until the end with the ink bag. The ninjas and stuff might be funny to others but it seemed like it needed alot more laughs than it gave. The look of it though was very nice, I loved the slight desaturation.

10) Bus #1 by Hilary Graham - Funny yes but done a million times. I wish they would have made the ending funnier. She could have gone many routes and chose a simple one in the end.

11) Getta Rhoom by Jason Epperson - It was funny but didn't have alot in there other than the moment where he turns around and trys to act cool in front of those guys. Him getting killed in the end...not sure what made that funny, and he could have squeezed a laugh out of him getting thrown out that would have added at least something more to it.

12) File Size by David May - Camera work was good but some parts seemed too slow to be funny and others seemed just right. He lost me there..not alot going on.

13) Blind Date by Claudia La Bianca - This seemed very "her" but I think the accent took away from what could have been funny. I actually had a hard time understanding what she said and by that point she lost me...and the ending was very abrupt.

14) Please Hold by Phil Hawkins - The idea was funny but it had a bit too much seriousness in it IMO.

15) Check Out by Shira-Lee Shalit - I'm not sure what they saw in this...sure there was parts that were funny but what was with the ending? Yea ok she was dreaming but the part of her getting poked in the butt and showing the security guy there didn't have anything to do with the sexual dream. Its not that it didn't work but for me it didn't make much sense...the ending and the middle of it seemed like they would have had 2 different endings.

16) Love In The Year 2007 by Shalini Kantayya - Cheap laughs IMO....I mean myspace...I find that to be a cheap way to get a laugh. Just didn't do it for me I guess.

17) …To Screw In A Light Bulb by Jessica Brillhart - Tried to be funny...and failed. Didn't make sense.

18) Wack Alley Cab by Kenny Luby - Not saying it didn't make me chuckle a tad...but it went from kinda funny to just plain annoying...that guys laugh made me want to punch him in the face....twice.

Thats my take.

I thought replication was the funniest...esp with the caveman scene. Danger Zone was also good....that zack guy took a chance with a one shot short and didn't let his talent with effects take away from the story.

Uh, did they forget to air an episode or something? I never got to see the last round of elimination. The preview at the end of the Audition 2 episode suggested that it was going to air Monday, but they just cut straight to the live audience. WTH?

What the frak is this crap!? The first two episodes, while not great, at least showed some of the filmmaking process and the personalities of the contestants. All of the sudden it's an American Idol clone...This is the worst crap I have ever seen. Anyone who got voted off last week should be glad they don't have to participate in this abortion of a show...Good god Stevie, stick to making movies and stay far, far away from the reality tv genre. Man has this show gone to ****. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I didn't enter this. Rant over.

Ha ha, I watched one of them the other day on line and I thought the Zack team was pretty together. Then again, it's TV, so the producers might have wanted me to think that. I mean, several of the other people REALLY looked like morons. Like how-do-they-even-put-their-pants-on morons.

I tried to go into it with an open mind. The problem I have with it is that no reality show is real, so I don't even really believe they made those movies in 24 hours. I mean maybe they did, but the cynical side of me just won't let me enjoy it because I assume it's all fake and manipulated.

What would be cool is if on the web, they had unfiltered 24 coverage of the process for those who want to see it. Like have web cams hidden all over. Most of it would be boring, but for the real geeks out there, you could really watch their filmmaking process.

Though if those two chicks on that a-hole's team would've gotten it on...then they would have had something. They were CUTE. :)

Haha. I agree about not believing anything. I don't even believe that they show the judges actual reactions. I believe that when the judges make those "ugh" faces, it is once they left. I actually don't trust any reality show, but I still enjoy On The Lot and unfortunately I'll probably watch it every week. :(

were these one minute shorts done within 24 hours also or did they have a week or several days??

i liked the Replication theory short, zach's short and the one with the space aliens. i liked the country dude's one to with the nerd/retard even though the judges didnt like it.

seems whatever carrie says as the first response the other judges just follow the leader which sucks.

i really like that little host too. nice eyecandy.

Unfortunately she's one of the most forgetable host I've ever seen. I don't even remember her name! She said the exact same thing after every commercial break and after every contestant, word for word. They might as well just record her voice once and replay it.
