"On The Lot" tonight

Maybe FOX is trying to rush it out the door as soon as possible (ie. No episodes about them making their films each week).

I don't think it was ever their intention to show making ofs each week. In the synopsis released before the show aired it said that they'd only show the films. Disappointing IMO.

one thing i've noticed is the lack of southern talent. one guy (getta rhoom) is from kentucky, but that looks to be it. is that representative of the movie making scene in general?

who was in their 40's (or looked like they were in their 40's) on the show?

well about to turn 40. like some of them are like 38. a few males and the one female with the pee.

Ok, I was extremely excited for the show to premiere. When it did, the first episode was pretty good. I was really interested in it until the third episode when everybody watched the 1 minute shorts.

Now, all the show is, is American Filmaker. I was sooo put off that FOX would do this... again. The show is over for me, there's a reason I hate American Idol, now there's a reason I hate On The Lot. Absolutely rediculous. I hate the show now.

i just read their bios. damn the black guy is 41 and the cute indian chick is 30. i didnt even think a lot of them were in their 30's. i figured that one girl (that made the lightbulb short) that was on kenny's team was young since she said she was the youngest.

i figured that lady that made the one with the pee was kinda old though. the guy from kentucky i thought was probably 25 or something and he's older than me.

the people closer to their 40's or in their 40's on the show it seems like they just realized they wanted to be a filmmaker and probably hadnt been doing it since their 20's, but then again who knows. everybody's an actor and nowadays everybody's a filmmaker.

Filmboy-

I can sympathize with the older folk in this competition and I think its great they are included. Unlike American Idol where you need to be 27 or younger I think?

I just turned 36 and have wanted to be an actor since I can remember. I spent many years taking classes and doing a boatload of plays. But then, I had it in my head that before I make that move...before I start pounding the pavement...I'd get my education. So, 10 years later, I finally get my graduate degree and am 36 with no sitcom or agent in sight.

Was I using school to hide? Possibly. But I still want it. So, I can relate to the 41 year old guy who finally said, "F THIS! You only get ONE go around!".

Having said that, JEEZ I need to get my ass in gear.

True but they never showed the debut of the 1 hour scenes they had to direct not to mention even talk about it or show the 6 people that got cut. Something fishy about that indeed. The 2nd episode they showed some behind the scenes stuff and now they have taken a whole new approach..

No its called life... some of us went to film school in are 20's... had their father get cancer... have to work 10 years... save every nickel and dime... then when they hit 33... still want that dream... so they go back to film school... start working... decide they want to be above the line... and work their butt off to get that...

Its funny because when I went back to film school... most of the younger guys never finished their projects on time (now the gals did)... the teacher would tell them... the studios not going to give you an extra four weeks of shooting at lets say $1m a week... so you can get everything right... I got every project down on time... because I had learned to run or manage a store... which I look back on taught me a lot about being a producer... its called making money...

Also one of my friends was talking to are teacher a few months ago... the teacher said as far as he knows the only guys who made it were the three guys over 30 who made it above the line... or really made it in the industry...

Also it works both ways... because I've seen stuff on here from young guys that blows me away... man I wish I had that much talent when I was 20...

I think I'm moving in the right direction I'm atleast using my degree and working in the field. What was your fourth feature? Any links?

man they got vote for the worst backing him... how lame. I knew Hannah who was on his team in the first comp.... man kenny just seems like a real doosh.

but anyway i guess it good to have someone you want to murder on the show.

yea i feel you man. i'm in the same boat as far as having to put things off in order to get money to live, but i was moreso talking about the couple of guys on the show that are older who just decided not too long ago to do film, specifically the black dude who just decided to do film when he hit his mid to late 30's.

nothing wrong with that, some people go their whole life not knowing what they really want to do. better late than never.
