On camera Shockmount?

Their shock mounts are fine. But you will still hear handling/operator/camera noise when mounting a mic to the camera.

All the Best!

Dave

I have an NTG-3 which is the same, only with a slightly wider pattern. I don't hear any camera noise.

Of course when you thump the camera you'll still hear noise. These things only reduce noise. But that's a given, as nothing is magic. Still, the Rycote Lyre system is the most shock absorbent shock mount going.

The Rycotes linked to are definitely the best camera mounts around. You choose the one that is best for the camera.

The Rycote MiniScreen and Windjammer actually has better wind protection than the slightly more expensive Softie.

What is also very important is to gat a tin and flexible microphone tail as stiff cables can transmit noise up the cable to the microphone. I use the Rycote S-series tail on all my microphones (£15 +VAT in the UK) and I have even ordered the equivalent for my Soundfield SPS200 microphone.

John,
Can you direct me to the mic cable on the Rycote site. I don't see it.
Thanks,
Bernie

While Rycote makes good mounts and suspensions, Rode also has a cheap shotgun mount for cameras. If you mount it pointing backwards even a longesh shotgun stays out of the frame.

It's only shown on the Rycote site as part of the S-Series Kit, but it is available on its own - £15 +VAT in the UK.

I have just rung Rycote and suggested that the S-series XLR tail is included in the accessory section, especially as it also goes well with all the InVision mounts and the USM as well. I think they will do this quite quickly.

The Rycote Lyre suspension system is patented worldwide and no-one can copy it. It is much better than any elastic suspension and suspensions using silicon O-rings. It is also very inexpensive and is technically better than suspensions costing many times the price. I use the Rycote studio mount (£60) on my Neumann mic. as it's better than the Neumann one at £200, not because it's cheaper!

Don't worry John, I have several invision lyres and S-series blimp...

Wow I just discovered the Rycote studio mount! That Studio Kit looks really cool with the pop filter built in: http://www.rycoteinvision.com/ For people who do VO it looks like a nice compact unit. I don't like the way traditional pop filters are bulky and are more difficult to take to a gig. I often go to people's offices and record them doing testimonials or VOs for their ads, and this looks like it travels well.
