I was wondering how well this would work. I would like to run a ring light on my lens and have a flash on my hotshoe. I use a gh2 and most my shooting is run and gun wedding photography and video. It would be simply awesome if I could actually use a ring light to get the lighting up to where i could run higher isos and still have my flash.

A couple of questions.. does anyone have any reccomendations of what ring light to use? I need one that is battery powered and does not use the shoe. I would think it would need to be dimmable as well.

What problems will I run into?

I use flash ring lights for photography, but a continous source would defninitely give you a look people won't forget. One issue will be output power and distance since generally a ring light is best at closer ranges.

The Diva Ring light "looks" portable, but you'll have to do some more research http://dealnay.com/720238/diva-photovideo-ring-light.html

Otherwise you can go for a version you plug in the wall but will not be very portable: http://cgi.ebay.ca/65W-Fluorescent-Macro-Ring-Lamp-Lite-5400K-day-light-/250808313059

From looking at the photo of the Diva, it is setup on a tripod with the ring light mounted to the tripod, and the DSLR mounted to the light. Without the tripod I bet the whole thing weighs a lot for video work. It all depends on how you plan to use it of course,,,,,,,,,, there are more "professional" versions but costly too.
