On camera light

I am not familiar with on camera lights so any advice is welcome. I need a light to light up weddings and such. The local stores do not have anything except these anemic little lights that last about 15min and then die. I do have a versalight that i inherited with my gear but it has a power cord that is basically an xlr into the light and an AC plug on the other end. What is the typical set up for wedding applications?

Also why does someone like Best Buy sell a video light that seems to barey throw any light at all for $40 when my 8year old kid has a light on his bike that i can see down the block for $10??

Ditto on the Paglight C6. I just used mine on a 2-day shoot. With the 20W bulb, the battery lasts almost 3 1/2 hrs. The pack is a little heavy at 3 lbs. and the supplied shoulder strap fasteners are a bit poor (they can come undone when moving around too much), but the light itself is great. I now fasten my battery to a tripod leg or monopod with super velcro: the thing never moves an inch.

Overall the I think the light's a good investment at the price.

Another endosement for the Pag light. I mount mine slightly off-axis on a stroboframe (still photo gear) and use the shoe for my shotgun mic.
