I know, for most situations they are completely ridiculous...but for this situation, i NEED an on camera light.

im shooting a documentary about a punk band touring across the country. i have limited space in the van for equipment, and wont have much time at all to set anything up to get a shot. they won't be slowing down so i can get proper lighting.

so, do you have any suggestions for a cheap on camera light for the dvx100a. im hoping under $100...

Re: On camera light?

I'll second the reccomendation for the Paglight C6--it's got a nice high capacity battery pack. It does run about $300, though.

Re: On camera light?

I have the Paglight C6 as well with bulbs from 5 watts to 30. It works well, but I've had to make a standoff to avoid the deer in the headlights effect.

I am very happy with it.

tisk, tisk! :)
Put some white diffusion paper on that! People really hate a bright in their face, as you know. bogen makes a white diffusion pack.$19

Re: On camera light?

Thanks for the Tsk :)

I could only afford the light, and the dimmer was a little more than $6. Diffusion is good, but I prefer to get the light offset from the lens as well.

I learn something from this forum everytime I'm on. I love the feedback.

Only problem I have is that there are very few $6 solutions ;D

We could call this the VISAuser forum.

Re: On camera light?

I was shooting on the red carpet of the movie premiere of FAT ALBERT here in Philadelphia today and there was a crew beside me that was shooting with the 100A and he had a FREZZI light with a little softbox mounted on his camera. He powered the light via a battery belt.
