On-Camera LED Light

I'm looking for an on camera LED light.
This is for nightclub videos, and other nightlife videography.

I would love to have a ring light, but having problems finding one that will work on wide angle lenses (11-16mm) on a S35 sensor.

Well, what if I just purchase a rectangular LED light and place it directly over my lens?
I tried the Lumahawk LMX-LD98A Dimmable LED Light. Its a perfect size and attached to my top handle cold shoe.

Its perfect, but Im wondering if the LED light will be the better choice over getting a more expensive larger ring light over my lens.
AND if the light will be even good. If it will not shift colors or if the shadows on peoples faces will be illuminated evenly and nicely.

Have you had a look at this Ringlight? Rod mountable as an option too.
Yes.
There are two ring lights that I have in mind. This one and another one from Stellar Lighting. Both very similar. The other one attached onto the lens, while this is onto rods.

The thing is, they are big and heavy when the battery is attached. Its also looking to be around $300-350 with the 15mm bracket, shipping and taxes. I'm looking for a backup LED which is smaller, lighter and cheaper.
Such as the Lumahawk one I mentioned above. Its great. But Im not sure how it will compare to the ring light. It will be diffused. Without the diffusion is too spot and harsh on the eyes.

I dont even need a bright light source. I will probably be keeping it at its lowest setting to about 25% at max since they are very bright.
