on camera adapter for a rode shock mount?

Hey guys,

Is there an adapter i can get so that i can attach this rode shock mount to my camera mic shoe as well as the end of a boom pole? Or could be other way around and ill get the camera shoe model and adapt that.

I'll be putting an oktava mk012 in there, should be fine right?

Also, any recommendation on a brand for XLR cables?

You'll need an adapter to mount onto whatever you want to mount it on. The link you sent states "A three-way mounting system includes 1/4" x 20 and 3/8" x 16 internal threads, and a 5/8" x 27 and a 3/8" to 5/8" thread adaptor for tripod, boom pole and microphone-stand mounting." So there you have it.

The name of the actual mount itself has NTG2 in the title, so I'd assume it's supposed to fit the Røde NTG2 shotgun mic. The MK012 is a lot more narrow: 20mm I believe, as opposed to 25mm for the NTG2...I think. I'm on the road and away from my mic case, and the Røde site is being obstreperous at the moment. In any event, I'm not certain it'd be held securely.

ah excellent, anyone with an oktava know if this would be a good fit or not? i think i got the rode shockmount recommendation from somewhere on this forum, but would like to be sure.

also still have the question about the XLR brand

I always buy Canare brand StarQuad-style cables. Canare and Mogami are the standards amongst the location audio pros I deign to slum around with, and Canare's a lot cheaper. ;-) StarQuad is a build style that helps reject EM interference and noise in the signal.

whats wrong with the bands on the SM3?:

seems like the only problem with the SM3 is the plastic knob occasionally breaks

Well I have heard of people replacing the bands with the ones I linked you, the only time the bands on the SM series is when the microphone is too small. So if your microphone fits fine then dont worry about it
