does any cinematographer have any tips in regards of on-board light mounted on a camera, (Panasonic HVX) ?

first time i am going to use it and i was wondering what i should be aware of from this type of lighting gear.

you mean a light mounted on the camera, very close to the lens? not recommended unless you're desparate or for example interviewing strangers in the street - head-on lighting will be very unflattering for your interviewees. A separate light from a metre or so to one side will look a lot better
