Hi,

I'm going to purchase a full line of kino flow 4 bank flourescents,

the only Q is with mounted on board ballast or separate ballast with 25' of cable?

Thanks in advance for your advices.

I like the Select bank Kino's (instead of Diva's, etc) which have remote ballasts. It's never been an advantage to me to have an on-board ballast. With a remote ballast and the Select system you can also power different sized heads and number of heads with the same ballast.

I agree with the last poster. The Select Bank Kino's are the way to go. I work on multi-camera shoots with freelance cameramen that own Divas. The color temperature of the Divas is off and does not render naturally. The Selects are wonderful lights that produce the correct color temperature.
Beyond that you can remove the wiring assembly from the unit and place the tubes anywhere you'd like. I lit the inside of an RV for a show by velcroing the tubes to the ceiling. Lots of possibilities.

Ya to chime in I really don't like the Diva's at all. People rave about the dimming feature but the color temp seems to go really wacky when we dim. Even at 100% up on the dimming I'm still not a fan of the light quality- i'm not entirely sure what it is but I've convinced myself it's the difference between the 55w U-shape tube (Diva's) vs T-12 tubes (Select Bank).

And the ability to strip out the harness on a Select bank is definitely a plus I forgot to mention. I've mounted tubes to foamcore and rigged them to ceilings, handheld tubes on moving shots and the 2ft tubes are great to rig on a mattebox.

I have one 4Bank and one Parabeam 400, like both of them, but since now I'm going to replace some 12k, 5k, 2k, Fresnel tungsten, I wanted to know the preferred solution from users.

I will most likely exchange my fresnels for Filmgear tube box 4' 4 lamps witch use Kinoflo true match lamps just like the 4Bank dose, and they have a option of detached or attached DMX ballast.

But I already see that it is going to be with detached ballast.

Tanks for your imputs so far.

I think the issue with diva lites are those crappy 2900 kelvin tubes. Those things suck to be blunt about it. I never have issues with divas when using the daylight tubes. Just my two cents.

Thats been my experience as well.
I'd rather use the daylight tubes in the Diva and gel if need be.
