Omni pair in blimp for recording ambience

... the most important thing and that is "listen". If what you are doing sounds good then your doing it right.

Totally.

The link doesn't work so I can't comment specifically

Crap, sorry.... I changed my user name on SoundCloud which broke it for a bit, but it seems to work now (in a private window) so it should work for you...?

but in general water is really hard. It's SO easy to end up with white noise that just doesn't sound like what you were "hearing" at the time.

Yes! I've been mucking around with recording water (on and off) since 2012, and I'm still figuring it out. Also I seem to have reached the point that I'm listening for the white noise effect so hard I keep hearing it... ;-)

... It has a slower response time (my guess) and rounds out gritty bits and just softens the sound a bit.

Interesting... since my mic budget is already kind of busted, I wonder if there's a way to replicate that in post? More exerimenting!

Well will try ORTF, but in the meantime here are a few tests (for Atticus's benefit, including waves) with the NT55 spaced pair in blimp:

Just got a chance to listen to these.. and they do sound nice! I will have to give tha a try.

BTW, are you involved with the WSRS by any chance? I just joined, but sadly will miss the Norfolk meet-up in Feb... shame, it looks to be fantastic. Hopefully will get to another meet soon.

Cheers!

Thanks Atticus. No, not involved with the WSRS. Interested to hear that you are: a long way from home for you, though that Feb meeting - and much of their activity - seems to be on my doorstep in north Norfolk.

Cheers,

Roland
