Omfi files from Avid to Premiere, how?

Hi there

I have filmed a short film on my DVX100 that I haven't edited yet. I originally captured it on my PC from the DVX100 with AVID.

Unfortunately I no longer have AVID but now I am using Adobe Premiere Pro on a new PC.

All the many hours of captured footage is stored in a folder called Omfi files (even some stuff from other projects mixed up with it).

How can I open these files in Premiere Pro? I tried regularly importating into a new project but it didn't work!

Can anyone tell me what to do step by step?

cheers

Draccan

P.S. Oh and please don't say it is not possible or I will cry and THAT will be ugly ;)

P.P.S. I posted this in the dvx100 forum but just realized that I might be more succesful here...

Yea ... just checked... the captured files are a library of many .omf and some .aiff sound files

After Effects will open DV25 OMF files--at least, it did the last time I checked. You could render them out to DV AVIs and then import them into PPro, or if you have the Adobe suite with Dynamic Link, you could create comps from all the imported OMFs, and then import the comps into PPro.

If you don't have After Effects--well--follow Shooter's advice :)

After a bit of reading, it looks like its just a wrapper, attempt to rename it to .avi and cross your fingers.

Sorry what is "comps"?

And if I convert with After Effects (I do have AE but never used it) what settings of AVI should I use? Would it degrade my footage or do anything to timecode or anything? What about sound?
