.OMF Export

Integration with Pro Tools and other post production software is Vegas' biggest fault in my view. Take a look at the Corrado thread in user films for an in depth (albiet few year old) serious attempt to work through it. I dealt with the issue in small scale for one of my shorts. If I recall correctly, Vegas does not export .OMF files whatsoever. There are two other options.

1. Export a .AAF file. Pro-Tools is supposed to ingest .AAF files along with .OMF. However, it took me three days of effort and several reinstalls before Vegas would actually export .AAF files for me. Then it suddenly started working again, no rhyme or reason why it stopped or started. In the end, it was moot, though, as Pro Tools didn't accept the .AAF files I got out of Vegas.
2. Edit Decision List. I don't know for certain, but I would expect Pro-Tools would take an EDL file. Again, no guarantees the EDLs that come out of Vegas will go into Pro Tools though.

Either way, I suggest you keep the edit you send simple - ideally a cuts only edit. Good luck, and if you find a way to get the project across successfully, do share - a lot of people will thank you.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep on it...
UPDATE:
Vegas .AAF > Soundtrack Pro > Export a new .AAF > Hopefully Pro Tools.

I will be importing the Soundtrack Pro .AAF into Pro Tools tomorrow. I'll update this week...

That was the trick... If you need to take your Vegas audio to Pro Tools (retaining original files and timeline position) -
Export an Avid Legacy AAF from Vegas, then import that AAF into Soundtrack Pro (you may have to reconnect media). From STP, export an .AAF.

Finally, import the STP .AAF into Pro Tools (should import with ease).

Glad you managed to find the missing link in the puzzle! That's great to know for the future, thanks for letting us know. Hopefully it goes back to Vegas just as easily.
