Currently experiencing problems in importing OMF 2 files into Pro Tools.
All tracks copy correctly but all level/fade/pan/automation and crossfades info is lost and the tracks import with levels at unity (0).
Has anybody encountered this problem?
Thanks

I think when you are importing the OMF, there should be an option in pro tools to keep automation that you've done in FCP. I've never dealt with OMF2, though. There might also be an option like this when you are exporting the OMF as well, but it's been a while since I've done this in FCP.

This is a FCP problem. OMF files don't have to include automation and FCP's don't. There are some programs that will let you work around this oversight but they are in the $500- $800 range. I usually just start from scratch. The transfer protocol (AAC?) should solve this problem when everyone has moved over to it but for now your stuck.

Noiz2 is correct. FCP for some reason has opted to NOT include volume and pan info.
Coming from Avid I get all of the volume and pan info.
Automatic Duck is the program that will let you export the volume and pan info from FCP into OMF.

AAF is way cool because unlike with OMF you can export a larger than 2 gig file. It's also more of an industry consensus format because about 15 companies got together and approved it. Again, APPLE and FCP don't seem to want to go to the party with AAF.
