That's because it is 'football'... that is you can't grab the ball with your hands... unlike that american game where the 'foot' ball is most likely carried in the hands or thrown from one hand to some other receiving hands, and only rarely being kicked with the foot... it should have been named 'handball with an occasional kick'.

The funniest thing about soccer is when the players fall on the ground and pretend like they're hurt when it's obvious they barely made contact.

The funniest thing about soccer is when the players fall on the ground and pretend like they're hurt when it's obvious they barely made contact.

When I was young, and often the last selected for such games as baseball... I found that I could reasonably compete in soccer... and found that it was a convenient 'payback' time, as one could be attempting to 'kick the ball', but oops... kick the **** out of the opponent's shins... this of course on occasions produced a fight about the situation and a visit to the principal's office... but heck, revenge was worth it...
