older G2 100 just as good as newer G2's?

Hi guys-

I have a chance to purchase a used EW 100 G2 made in 2006 for $350 with the A band frequency which will work in my area. Is there a big difference in quality of features between the older model and the newer G2 100's? Is this a reasonable price or should I wait for a slightly newer used model and pay a little more?

I'm planning to get a cos11 and dump the ME2 as suggested on many posts here.

Thanks again in advance,

gmoe

There are three primary differences, one positive, two negative. The positive is that with the older model, it has a removable antenna. The negatives are the older model weighs more, and is powered with 9V instead of AA batteries. Otherwise, afaik, they are the same.

Thanks guys!

Shoot, got your post a little late but decided to get the new one with sanken cos11x just to play it safe. :)

Other than spending a little extra money, you'll be fine with that combo - and you can always re-plug the COS-11 when you get your first Lectro. ;-)

Are you talking about the first generation of the EW 100 series? They didn't go by the name "G2" (short for generation 2, older ones were generation 1). If so then quality of signal-wise they were the same but didn't have the channel scan feature, had a little less easy interface, no pilot signal, and, as already mentioned, they took 9v instead of the more convenient & cheaper AA.

Cheers
