Old Twilight Zone?

I would like to send this out, something I have been curious about. As a holiday gift, I received a copy of the Twilight Zone series. I am 39, never watched the series as a kid. I would expect that on face value I would think its nothing special to watch if judged purely from a viewers standpoint. But looking at it from a production point of view, from a person just getting into film/video production it is very special to watch. It has been said before that what makes a good independent film is a good script and thats what makes a lot of these twilight zone episodes so good. There is one episode that sticks in my head, "The after hours" Season one. It was set in a department store and a mysterious 9th floor. This was shot in 1960, obviously black and white but I would swear it was shot on video. Super crisp, super clear. The sets where very plain. What type of equipment might have been used on a TV show like this? Does the series still hold up to peoples current standards of good entertainment? Or simply too dated? I would love to hear peoples opinions from a cinematography point of view.
