old school film slow motion frame rates?

The shows I used to watch had a lot of stunts: Knight Rider, Fall Guy, Hardcastle and McCormick, Dukes of Hazzard, A-team, etc...
These were shot on film, of course. Often on a car jump for instance, they would have some cameras record at a higher frame rate for slow motion. It seems the final viewing speed of the action is similar, so was there a film speed they commonly used and anyone know what it was?

Yeah, my guess is the fps was purely luck - those shows all used the same commonly available high-speed camera at the time, and that happened to have a 48fps (or whatever) setting.

Don't know what the camera or fps was though...

Back when I shot film, we would rent a Photo-Sonics camera when we needed to shoot hi-speed stuff that our cameras could not handle.

During the 50's - 70's we shot high speed film at up to 10,000 fps with crystal controlled cameras. Projection was at 24 fps with sync projectors. It was never at "wild", un-controlled speeds.
