Old high end JVC S-VHS gear...thoughts on value?

A friend is moving & cleaning out his attic & asked my advice on what to do with his old S-VHS gear. He bought some good higher end gear in the 90s, likely what corporations were using, but neither he nor I have any idea what something like this is worth anymore. My guess is it's headed to the trash dump, but dang, this was expensive once upon a time! Could there possibly be any resale value on this? Looking on ebay and google brought nothing. A site called Kitmoto seemed to list old VHS & Sony gear. Someone there was asking $2k for the JVC -GY-x2 camera & YH13x7.5 lens my buddy has.

Any opinions would be welcome. I'll likely try this kitmoto site and see what turns up, but asking $2k for a S-Video camera, no matter how good, seems awfully steep.

Is there something I'm missing in the marketplace? Like demand from elsewhere in the world???

The gear he has is:
JVC RM-6800U Edting control unit (apparently only works with JVC?)
JVC BR-S800U/500U Record and playback decks
JVC GY-X2 3CCD S-VHS camera
Lens is YH13x7.5 (seems like it was a great lens)
Bogen 3066 Head and 3190 tripod (this likely is still worth real money).

Thanks in advance for any help before I tell him to throw it out. (cept for the Bogen)

Oh, yes — the GY-X2. I remember it well! I recall drooling over that and the KY-19 in magazines in the mid-90s when it was way out of my price-range. I've thought about picking one up on Ebay and starting a personal museum (to include the Canon A1, L1, Sony V5000 and other fine cameras of the era).

Ebay shows two recent sales (and a handful of other sales in progress). The first went for $60 and the second sold yesterday for $200 with a lens.

Alas, even the great cameras, like the Sony F900 must eventually go the way of all electronics — hopefully that's not into a landfill, but to an electronics recycling facility.

Looks like he's going to throw it into an "electronics recycling facility" if not the local dump...thanks. It's what I suspected.
