Oktava question

Can you use the Oktava outdoors? Just thinking ahead here. I'll have an AT4073a
for exterior audio, but what if I need another mic and didn't want to use lavs,
would the Okatava work under certain conditions or at all for outoor use?

Yes you can, as long as you have wind protection. The Oktava is a very useful mic and normally the first thing I grab out of my bag regardless of interior or exterior location.

no problems... the only reason shotguns are usually preferred is cuz they have better directionality and also a bit more "reach", and you would associate outdoor scenes with higher background...

hence, the "rule" that shotguns are better outdoors.

but rules are for pansies, and the oktava sounds great

Works for me. I'll get my rycote softie for my shotgun mic, the AT is all that is
missing for my audio kit, other than some cables I'll get from Matt.
