1. In beginning to build a basic audio kit, would you recommend getting the Oktava Mk12 Matched Stereo Pair?



2. Also, what is the Sound Room DVXUser discount?

They have:

~ MK12 with HC cap for $219
~MK12 Matched Stereo Pair with all three caps for $659

The $659 package is definitely a good buy, but is it necessary?


I plan on shooting "Web Mini's - Serials for the web (mainly indoors w/some outside shots) and the occaisional live nightclub gig for friends who want archives.

I have the 3 capsule matched set and find it a good buy. It is possible to build almost all basic stereo arrangements* from those mics, just get the suspensions also. I also use the hyper for indoor video work, for the omnis I built a Jecklin disk.

*) not MS and Bluemlein.
 
start with one mic , you will find that 1 type of microphone is not enouth and need something like shotgun or wierless .
