Oktava Mk12 modification question.

Hi guys,

anyone here did this with this shop? How is it? I got one Oktava MK 12 and I'm thinking about doing it.

waist of money ,
the Dorsey modifications where implemented by octava few years ago
just buy another mic , you wll have more benefit .
and sorry no ff,, octava sounds like 1100usd gefell, neumann or schoeps
just not the same leag what doesnt mean much in real life situations

As far as I know, and what I have heard from Michael Joly himself, Oktavamod does not perform the Scott Dorsey Mod. Instead, from what I have heard, he performs numerous electronics modifications to improve "transparency and transient response." As a result, people are absolutely positive about their modified Oktavas for music recording, but I don't know how these improvements would help in production sound.

O.K I got a reply from Michael and this is what he told me.

If you're doing mostly ENG interview I don't think you'd notice much difference. The work I do improves transient response and lower distortion on complex signals like acoustic guitar and drum overheads. On voice, there may be a tiny bit more midrange clarity, but the benefits are really heard in the attack transients of cymbal stick hits and plectrum on strings.
